It may be a lot easier to buy a cake from a good cake shop, but sometimes that just wouldn't do and I'm happy to spend hours (well, to a degree) in a kitchen making my own version of it.. There is just so much more satisfaction in baking-canning-preserving-frying something yourself..
And they're in my fridge currently, so I proudly glance at them whenever I open the fridge:)Pillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05817049547134774699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13695947.post-1123703525742487422005-08-10T22:52:00.000+03:002005-08-10T22:52:00.000+03:00Even if we don't need a full larder for winter, th...Even if we don't need a full larder for winter, there's something so satisfying about preserving and canning, isn't there? You've been at it in full force! If I were you, I'd have a hard time not opening my cabinets every hour or two, just to gaze at the fruits (no pun intended) of my labor. Ahhh. Beautiful work!Mollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01493708300940204826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13695947.post-1123582869708804462005-08-09T13:21:00.000+03:002005-08-09T13:21:00.000+03:00Hi Violet - thanks! But still, I must admit I'm quite pleased with myself:)
Can't you really get redcurrants in the US? Pity..

Paz - I'm flattered that you'd love to have a taste from each of my jars:) I've had already - I've finished a jar of those carrot slices (will post a separate entry about it later today). And I also had couple of spoonfuls leftovers from chutney, jam and jelly, so I _had_ (not so reluctantly actually:) to taste all of them. Chutney had mellowed a little, and I absolutely loved the jam and jelly (the latter looked much more beautiful in real life than on the photo).
And thanks for the compliment re: my photos. I keep drooling at the photos taken by J @ Kuidaore, Melissa @ The Travelers Lunchbox, Nicky @ delicious:days and Keiko @ Nordljus and feel really sheepish about my amateur attempts..
I've got a recipe for fried green tomatoes - looked it up after seeing the movie as well - but haven't tried making them yet. Maybe when I get back from Estonia and buy a new batch of green tomatoes at the market..Pillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05817049547134774699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13695947.post-1123529141297528402005-08-08T22:25:00.000+03:002005-08-08T22:25:00.000+03:00This is some preparation -- and all the worthwhile...This is some preparation -- and all the worthwhile! I'd love to have a taste from each of your jars! Your farmer's market sounds as if they supply a lot of interesting things.

I like your photos. I've been looking for green tomatoes to make fried green tomatoes -- something I've always been interested in doing ever since seeing the movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes." Perhaps, one day I'll find them.

PazAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13695947.post-1123436255743620182005-08-07T20:37:00.000+03:002005-08-07T20:37:00.000+03:00Hi Tara - thanks for your kind words! At the moment I have three different printed recipe cards with lots of arrows, deletions, additions and comments running back and forth:)Pillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05817049547134774699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13695947.post-1123435771012881572005-08-07T20:29:00.000+03:002005-08-07T20:29:00.000+03:00My, how industrious you are! But how lovely it must be to have the comfort of a well-stocked pantry for the colder months. Definitely inspiring! The green tomato chutney looks especially tasty. Would you mind sending the recipe along?tarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05149211392724447966noreply@blogger.com
