Biezpiena is almost to me like a cross between a curd cheese and lancashire cheese. Hard to describe to people when they only know biezpiena :). Looking forward to trying the recipe tonight thoughJoannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08013060781688432165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13695947.post-9845850245674423252011-05-24T09:01:36.505+03:002011-05-24T09:01:36.505+03:00Kris, luckily we have none in the garden, so I hav...Kris, luckily we have none in the garden, so I have to walk to a nearby park or "peruse" my parents' garden.

Joanna - don't know about 'biezpena', but regular cottage cheese works well (that's what I use, "kodujuust" in Estonian) - just some have a lot of liquid in the tub (whey?) that's best drained away first.Pillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05817049547134774699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13695947.post-4854574445139658562011-05-24T07:52:37.333+03:002011-05-24T07:52:37.333+03:00Just been passed on your blog as I now live in Lat...Just been passed on your blog as I now live in Latvia and have a ground elder problem. We started eating ground elder last year and found it delicious too. I was wondering if you use what people in Latvia call biezpiena, because I have decided that this is closer to curd cheese than the more traditional translation of cottage cheese. I noted you said drained cottage cheese though, so maybe that is different.Joannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08013060781688432165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13695947.post-40341898561358534482011-05-21T09:11:35.025+03:002011-05-21T09:11:35.025+03:00Like this ... though I feel much better eating it ...Like this ... though I feel much better eating it now after 2 years of black tarp and knowing that it is scientifically possible to kill the rhizomes. Maybe not completely destroy, but make them dormant... :) Stuff's like a horror film.Kris Rikkennoreply@blogger.com
