Watermelon with Orange and Mint

  1. Nice to hear from you Pille. Glad you liked the salad. The original recipe used rosewater and lemon balm leaves but I had neither so improvised.

  2. I know this will sound strange, but lately I've been trying a tiny bit of sea salt on watermelon chunks -- it's delicious! The salt is mild but brings out the sweetness of the watermelon. Love it with mint, too, as I've got tons of mint in my garden.

  3. Sea salt isn't at all strange. In fact it's part of the Mexican tradition where watermelon is one of the national fruits. For them, just a squeeze of lime and a shake of salt is all that's needed to turn it into a dream on a hot day. If you really want the Mexican experience then you also add a dash of chile powder. Viva Mexico!!

  7. ah... perfect example of how the simplest is often best! This looks like a perfect summer dessert! I had some watermelon sprinkled with balsamico this summer, also a very nice twist. I like the idea of orange and mint very much, too!
